ARE YOU A LIGHTHOUSE?

Every single person has struggles.  What God allows in a person’s life is meant to for them.  It is to get them grow closer and to LEAN on God.

The trials another is going through may not seem to be so bad to others, but God knows those trials seem like MAJOR STORMS in the lives that are having them.

After successfully going through their trials, life lessons I like to call them, they will be able to face other things that are allowed in their live better.

Have you EVER TRULY LOOKED AT a LIGHTHOUSE?

What is a lighthouse?

A lighthouse is a tall structure which contains a light..it shines in the darkest of night out across the water so that vessels can see.  When the storms of the night are raging and the skies are at their darkest, ships can know that they are getting close to the shore or to dangerous rocks by seeing this shining beacon.

Although most lighthouses were constructed high above any danger from a storm’s crashing waves, this one was not.  This particular lighthouse was barely above sea-level where it often was battered by ocean’s waves.

The picture above is of La Jument Lighthouse at the northwestern part of France. It was constructed in a place where there were many shipwrecks.  Between 1888 and 1904 there were 31 wrecks in the lighthouse’s area. A wealthy French man, who almost experienced death in a shipwreck, knew how important the lighthouse would be and financed its construction.

Because of its dangerous location and tumultuous engulfing waves, the beacon was started in 1904 but was not finished until 1911.  Its foundation was hewn in solid rock and barely stands out of the water.  There are times that the 154-foot-tall tower is lambasted by 65 to 97-foot waves.

Through all the hardships in its construction, it still stands and has saved many lives and shipwrecks.

Many Christians have faced MANY tremendous hardships, and storms like this lighthouse, and are still standing today…

ONLY GOD

THEY WEATHERED THEIR STORMS BECAUSE GOD WAS The LIGHT that gave them hope and inspiration to go forward

Maybe you don’t understand why God allowed you to face so many difficulties..

MAYBE he chose YOU to be the

LIGHTHOUSE

and help guide others to

SAFE HARBORS.

The ones that have their foundations anchored firmly in the SOLID ROCK when adversity comes and they continue to stand after being beaten by the snares that this world considers horrible experiences…

They are the “LIGHTHOUSES” that shine through the shadows of affliction.  They give hope and inspiration to others who are about to weather storms of their own.

If the waves of life are pounding on you…you can either shake your fist at God OR

You can draw him closer and put your arms around him and draw him closer to you…

The choice is yours.  How does the lost world see you when you are in trials?

 Psalm 18:2 says:

“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”

Of Hens and Humans

I saw a lot of human characteristics and actions while I sat there on the stoop at my Mama's Ruby's house.  You can learn a lot watching the happenings in a barnyard.   I know I did watching the many adventures of my grandparent's roosters and chickens.   This brought to me, after all of these years, in a featherly way what is common and wrong in the lives of people.   We are a lot like those birds. I have a beautiful group of chickens and roosters. They are all different varieties and colors.   Each one has its own style and personality.   I named one of those beautiful hens, Ellie Mae.  She was a victim of the other chickens’ unfair treatment.  She was a beautiful hen.  I would sit and watch her walk around the grass.  I was sitting on the porch cracking some pecans one day.  We were going to make some pies.   I noticed that sweet Ellie Mae had some feathers missing.   L ater that day, I saw what had ha...

JUST DUST

JUST DUST As I peered down the grocer aisle, there she was.. Standing there with her red pigtails, and fancy hair bows. I wanted to melt into the floor, and fade into the tile.  I was wearing my polyester pant suit that my Aunt Lucy made me... She was wearing store bought clothes; it was just one of the reasons  she thought she was better than me.      And well, some kids at school thought if you didn't have  those fancy store bought things that you didn't match up.   I was just not good enough.  See, my family didn't have all those fancy  things that money could afford. My daddy was a hard worker. He worked from daylight to dark.. He was a carpenter.    My Mama and Daddy gave me and  my brothers a wonderful, loving home.   They provided for us well.  They took us to church. ...

No Not One

NO NOT ONE I was sitting on the doorstep with my friend Sophie one Saturday evening, and I said, “Sophie, ask your Mama if you spend the night at my house tonight.” “Hey, great idea”, she said.   We were only seven years old, and having a sleep over was way cool.   Then she said, “Oh wait, tomorrow is Sunday.   Are you going to go to church?” I said, “Well, yes, of course I am, but you can go with us.   Come on, you will like Sunday School.   It is fun.” “Oh, I don’t know”, she said.   “Why, don’t you want to go”? She said, “I don’t think God wants me in Heaven, I have been too bad.”     I giggled at Sophie, and she gasped..I quickly apologized And gave her a hug..and said: My dear friend My Dear Lord and Savior Gave his precious son’s life blood for you   All of us are too bad for Heaven… But NONE of us are too bad To be FORGIVEN...
