HE WILL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

We headed off down the road on vacation to an unannounced

location with two excited boys;

they were thrilled to be going on a trip.

There was only two more weeks before they were to be back in

the classroom, so they were glad to be going on an excursion

one last time.

There were at least two questions we were asked time after time...

1.  Where are we going?

2.  When are we going to get there?

If these two questions were asked once, they were asked 50 times.

And they were answered the same every time..

😊

You will see when you get there.

As nightfall came upon us, we began to talk about where we would stay the night.  We couldn't seem to locate a hotel where we were...
We kept searching..

We started to talk about quality, price,
and of course, the boys wanted a
place that had a
nice swimming pool,
HA HA.
😄

We were beginning to think we were not going to find
a place to spend the night.

The oldest of the two boy suddenly said, "HEY, we can stay at a Motel 6 they will leave the light on for us."
They laughed.

Wow...what a wonderful thought.

I asked them to take out their Bibles and lets do some reading..They took out their pocket flashlights I had given them for Christmas, and
we took time reading verses from our Bibles.

As we read the third verse, we saw a hotel in front of us...We didn't stop reading though..

we finished up our verses in the room....

GOD IS SO GOOD !!!

Of Hens and Humans

I saw a lot of human characteristics and actions while I sat there on the stoop at my Mama's Ruby's house.  You can learn a lot watching the happenings in a barnyard.   I know I did watching the many adventures of my grandparent's roosters and chickens.   This brought to me, after all of these years, in a featherly way what is common and wrong in the lives of people.   We are a lot like those birds. I have a beautiful group of chickens and roosters. They are all different varieties and colors.   Each one has its own style and personality.   I named one of those beautiful hens, Ellie Mae.  She was a victim of the other chickens’ unfair treatment.  She was a beautiful hen.  I would sit and watch her walk around the grass.  I was sitting on the porch cracking some pecans one day.  We were going to make some pies.   I noticed that sweet Ellie Mae had some feathers missing.   L ater that day, I saw what had ha...

JUST DUST

JUST DUST As I peered down the grocer aisle, there she was.. Standing there with her red pigtails, and fancy hair bows. I wanted to melt into the floor, and fade into the tile.  I was wearing my polyester pant suit that my Aunt Lucy made me... She was wearing store bought clothes; it was just one of the reasons  she thought she was better than me.      And well, some kids at school thought if you didn't have  those fancy store bought things that you didn't match up.   I was just not good enough.  See, my family didn't have all those fancy  things that money could afford. My daddy was a hard worker. He worked from daylight to dark.. He was a carpenter.    My Mama and Daddy gave me and  my brothers a wonderful, loving home.   They provided for us well.  They took us to church. ...

No Not One

NO NOT ONE I was sitting on the doorstep with my friend Sophie one Saturday evening, and I said, “Sophie, ask your Mama if you spend the night at my house tonight.” “Hey, great idea”, she said.   We were only seven years old, and having a sleep over was way cool.   Then she said, “Oh wait, tomorrow is Sunday.   Are you going to go to church?” I said, “Well, yes, of course I am, but you can go with us.   Come on, you will like Sunday School.   It is fun.” “Oh, I don’t know”, she said.   “Why, don’t you want to go”? She said, “I don’t think God wants me in Heaven, I have been too bad.”     I giggled at Sophie, and she gasped..I quickly apologized And gave her a hug..and said: My dear friend My Dear Lord and Savior Gave his precious son’s life blood for you   All of us are too bad for Heaven… But NONE of us are too bad To be FORGIVEN...
